An exciting opportunity exists in our newly extended, state of the art home, Charles O'Neill for a highly motivated Diversional Therapist with appropriate, qualifications, knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team.

This vital role requires you to enhance the quality of life of each of our residents through offering a comprehensive range of individual and group activities to promote social independence and interaction. You will be responsible for conducting assessments on existing activities and implementing new activities to meet the resident’s needs and desires. You will work with a collaborate team committed to continuous improvements for our residents and their families. Above all you will engage in practices that enhance the dignity and integrity of the resident’s independence.

Selection Criteria

  • Must hold a health science or applied science bachelor’s degree in leisure, recreation or diversional therapy recognised by the Diversional Therapy Association of Australian National Council, or other qualification deemed equivalent by an employer.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Able to demonstrate competence, knowledge and experience in the management, treatment and care coordination of persons with a mental illness
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in behaviour management activities
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary health care team in an inpatient setting
  • Commitment to maximising levels of consumer participation in decision making and choices over treatment and management plans
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality client care
  • Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development
